To participate in the Lifeguarding Recertification class you must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification, and certification expired by no more than 30 days.  

The last day your certification can expire & take this class is: April 16th, 2027

Your certification must be American Red Cross Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and First Aid.

The Lifeguarding Recertification course is designed to refresh your knowledge and skills. Upon successful completion, you will renew your certification for another two years. 

During the course, individuals will have the opportunity to review and practice their skills. Participants must pass the update swim test, final written test and the three (3) final skill assessments.

Swim Test

Swim 150 yards consistently, tread water for 2 minutes without using arms, and swim 50 yards.

Swim 20 yards, submerge 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound brick, swim to the starting point holding the brick (on your back), and climb out of the pool. 1 min 40 sec

Skill Test

Rotate in-conduct surveillance – rotate out

Multiple Rescuer Response Scenario

50 question multiple choice test which needs to be passed with an 80%
