This course requires an eight hour online course before the in person class: Class Link in email receipt.

The American Red Cross lifeguard training and certification are imperative to the process of getting hired on as an official Red Cross lifeguard. Our detailed training includes both testing of hands-on skills as well as comprehension on written tests.

The certification, which includes First Aid, CPR and AED training, is valid for two years upon completion and is accepted nationwide.

The American Red Cross is the most respected source for training and certification of this kind.

To participate, candidates must: Be 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the course. 

Swim 300 yards continuously, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. 

Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both, but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles may be used. 

Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under their armpits. 

Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds:Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed. Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet and retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface, and swim 20 yards on your back keeping both hands on the brick and your face above the water. Candidates may not swim the distance under water. Place the object on the side of the pool and exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED blended learning course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants.

The online portion features award-winning simulation learning – an interactive experience where you will respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting and practice the skills that will prepare you for the instructor-led classroom skill session.

Allow approximately 2.5-3.5 hours to complete the online portion. The online course must be completed prior to attending the classroom portion of blended learning.
